Sandra S. Liu, Ph.D. is a Professor of Consumer Sciences and Retailing and Co-Director of Center on Religion and Chinese Society at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana USA . Dr. Sandra S. Liu has an academic background in business administration, Preventive Medicine, Pharmacology, and Pharmacy. Her research focuses on understanding consumer value propositions and strategizing for sustainable market offerings that yield social benefits. Dr. Liu also has extensive business and consulting experience in the healthcare industry.

Annetta Torre is a nurse manager with 27 years of experience in USA.  From 1995-2008, she served as a medical consultant, community developer and humanitarian in The People’s Republic of China.  Now based in the Philippines, she continues to work throughout Asia.

Michael Rich has 30 years of healthcare experience, including the last ten as Vice President for VHA, a national alliance of not-for profit health care providers serving over 2200 members.  He currently oversees the Planning Services network which provides market analysis, satisfaction and perception surveys, physician needs planning services, as well as strategic planning facilitation services offered to VHA member hospitals.   

Before joining VHA, Michael spent ten years with Spectrum Health – Butterworth Health Corporation as Director of Strategic Financial Planning and Director of Regional Operations, including periods as interim CEO of United Memorial Hospital.  His years of healthcare experience also include time spent with Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, Mich. and as a financial healthcare consultant for the Michigan Health and Hospital Association.    

Richard Kruszewski, RRT, M.S. is President - The Life Link Tucson, Director of Clinical Education: Respiratory Therapy Program, Pima Medical Institute - Tucson, Arizona. His experience includes organizing a free local community medical outreaches for uninsured and underinsured patients in Tucson, AZ, leading the opening of a local clinic in Kampala, Uganda and lecturing in China.

Maryanne Kruszewski, RN-BC is Clinical Director -The Life Link Tucson and Program Coordinator - Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tucson, AZ.  She is a certified Cardiac/Vascular Nurse. Experience includes organizing free local community medical outreaches for uninsured/underinsured patients in Tucson, AZ, leading the opening of a local clinic in Kampala, Uganda and lecturing in China.

Warren C. White, Jr., FACMPE, has guided both small and large medical group practices through significant organizational changes ranging from billing system and EHR implementation to board restructuring and health system integration.  He has been involved in the acquisition and sale of physician practices and coordinated various building and renovation projects.  His expertise includes leading strategic planning retreats and conducting physician practice management seminars. 

A. Michael La Penna established his consulting firm in 1987 after a long career serving numerous healthcare entities.  He has executive experience with both for profit and not for profit healthcare systems, as well as a wide variety of ancillary organizations. Mike is a graduate of the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business and holds both an MBA and a Certificate in Healthcare Administration. He has held numerous faculty positions in both undergraduate and graduate business programs and is a frequent lecturer at national health care industry conferences. Mike has authored many articles on topics relevant to the management and financial field and is frequently interviewed for industry publications.  His expertise includes strategic planning, business development, merger, acquisition and divestiture strategies, physician group and team building, equity and risk arrangements, and faculty group practice planning. 

Dr. Thomas A. Odeny is a medical doctor from Kenya currently pursuing his Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and Global Health at the University of Washington, Seattle. Previously, Thomas worked in Kenya as Program Coordinator for a large HIV prevention, care and treatment program in the worst-affected Suba district. Thomas first volunteered for HDI when he, as a medical student, helped organize the first Effective Healthcare Leadership workshop in Kenya in 2006. His passion is to be a more capable public steward helping to create sustainable health systems in Africa.
